Many of you may be familiar with the concept of the ‘pop-up restaurant’, or supper club. I first came across it in a Jamie Oliver television programme a couple of years ago. He visited someone’s New York apartment that was being run as a restaurant once a week. Guests could make a booking, for one or more people, and they would sit at a single large table, just like at a dinner party.
Anyway, that’s more or less what I’m offering except, at least to start with, I’m doing it more along the lines of individual tables – I can fit in up to three. This is how it works: if you book for ten or 12 people, you sit at my big dining table, and you get the place to yourself. If you would like a table for eight or fewer, I will use my best endeavours to fill another table or two to make the numbers up to a total of ten or 12.
So, if you fancy the idea of going out to dinner with a group of friends for a delicious meal which is, I guarantee, a little bit different from the usual restaurant fare, for a very reasonable price, then why not give it a try. I ask a nominal cost contribution of £35 a head, for three courses. Obviously I have no licence, so it’s bring your own bottles – and equally obviously there is no corkage fee.
When you book I’d like you to specify whether you’d prefer Asian or Mediterranean food. I would then send you a menu a week or so before the dinner, just as a precaution in case there was something on it to which one of your party had a serious aversion.
